four down eight to go.

april is gone, and in looking back at my resolutions, it was not a good month. i'll spare you the list since nothing can be checked off. i was coughing for most of the month which led to a sinus infection, and this combined with the rain we've been having meant that i didn't meet up with the gang to exercise at all this month. the only new things we tried were for the minis...friday night free play at the gym for mini-he, and mini-she started a six month singing program thru a modeling & talent agency. i did spend some quality time with mini-he by taking him on a long walk, or "adventure" as he called it.
so i guess the month wasn't a total wash!
how was your april?

i mentioned that the weekend might include long walks (check!),
water balloons (check!), just dance (check!),
and pinatas (oops, maybe next weekend!).

technical difficulties.

tgif.
just a quick hello as i'm off to mini-he's may day program at school. these photos are from the other week when my camera's white balance was on the wrong setting, so excuse the bluish tinge. this is the other top my sister brought back from h&m paired with these lilac shorts that don't photograph well at all. boy, i'm just all sorts of technical difficulties here.

this weekend may include long walks, just dance on the wii, water balloons, and pinatas.

what are you up to this weekend?

bookworm.

wednesday nights i take the minis to the library after dinner.
they each get five books. mini-she gets her chapter books, and i get mini-he these read-and-learn science books, or books about things he is learning in school. right now they are learning about police and volcanos. i remember getting him a book
about our skin. every time he fell he would ask,
"did i scrape my dermis?"
"is it blooding?"
i would reassure him that he only scraped his epidermis,
and it was not bleeding. kids are sponges.

mini-she persueded me to take them to menchie's after that for frozen yogurt. we always run into the movie theaters next
door and grab a bag of popcorn to take home.

(all of these photos were taken on the ipad and edited in picfx)

these are my favorite letter sections to browse in...
can you guess why?

how does your garden grow.

This post brought to you by Whitney Farms. All opinions are 100% mine.

one of my greatest childhood memories was spending the summers at my grandparents' house, running around in my grandma's huge garden with my cousins. i especially loved picking strawberries and eating them right off the plant.

today, we have our own garden. it isn't as big as grandma's,
but enough to have enjoyed lettuce, pineapples, green beans, potatoes, carrots, collared greens, oranges, tomatoes,
papayas, and avocados.

we try to eat healthy, and i love that i'm able to give the minis fresh foods straight from the garden, without any chemicals or pesticides. i know several of my readers share my interest in gardening, so i wanted to introduce you to
Whitney Farms®, a full line of 100% natural organic plant food and organic soil with no additives, nothing artificial,
just ingredients from the earth.

fresh mint + summer whites.

thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes for mini-he.
the family has been so busy that we haven't had a chance to officially celebrate his birthday, but we kept him busy this weekend. friday night we went to a gymnastics place for free-play in their toddler room...mini rock walls to climb, balance beams, trampolines, etc., and saturday we went to a fun fair.
i bought an unlimited pass for the rides and let him jump
(in the bounce houses) to his heart's content.

mint has been all the rage, and i finally got my hands on this blazer. this color is sold out online, but you might be able to find it at your local store. i wore it once with dark colors, but i like the summery feel of it when worn with
white and other pastels.

do you have your mint on? how do you wear your pastels?

love carnival food...cotton candy, waffle hot dogs,
pizza, corn on the cob!

happy mistakes.

gone are the days of my crazy hair color. having worked in a salon, i've had every color from red to purple to blue to orange. but since acquiring the minis, i've opted to go natural simply because it's easier to maintain. every few months,
i do an all over color just to even out my ends that
can get lighter from the sun.
but...if there's one thing i can never remember, it's my hair [dye] color. i try to remember the number or the girl's face on the box, but as soon as i am standing in front of all those boxes, i draw a blank. i tried writing it down, but can never remember where i wrote it down. so, there has been some variation in my natural color...like the last time.
a little too reddish-brown.
i took advantage of this mistake and tried a DIY ombre by coloring the crown portion of my hair with a slightly darker-than-natural color. the result is subtle, but i like it.

what do you think of ombre hair? have you ever tried to diy?

(denim, f21; top, old navy; shoes, aldo)
this gold ring (above) is my go-to when i want a decorated hand with just enough bling. i have been looking for something similar in silver and finally found it at JGOOD (below).
it fits perfectly and arrived in two business days.

the very one.

i love a great dress. it's an instant outfit that requires little to no effort to look good. a few accessories and a great pair of heels are all you need to complete the look. over the years, i have built up my collection of dresses for this exact reason. dresses are a great base that can be worn alone or layered with blazers, cardigans, or coats to suit any occassion. my personal collection includes babydolls for the beach, sheath dresses for the office, bodycons for girls' nights out,
and maxi dresses for those casual coffee and lunch dates.

i was recently introduced to Very.co.uk, an online department store, and was surprised by their selection of over 900 dresses. when you search Very's women's dresses, you'll find a wide selection from top brands like Diesel, French Connection, and Lipsy, and their styles are on trend...
take a look:

peplum

flirty florals

minty spring blues

peter pan + pretty prints

color bright maxis

summer whites

although their prices are totally reasonable,
they have a buy now pay later option that helps you spread the cost (and the guilt)! take a look at their entire selection, including their collection of maxi dresses, and tell me
which ones you love!
